Why Give?
Donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® are a vital part of our fundraising
efforts. We recognize the power of each person to make a positive impact and believe
that donations from individuals are what really allow us to realize our mission
— to end breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate are non-profit 501(c)(3)
organizations. All gifts are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by the law.
What becomes of my donation?
Up to seventy-five percent (75%) of the proceeds remain in Southeastern Wisconsin
to fund local breast cancer screening, treatment and education programs. At least
twenty-five percent (25%) is donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to help fund
its National Grant Program for basic, clinical and translational breast cancer research.
General Donations
Perhaps you have had breast cancer. Maybe a loved one, friend or acquaintance has
fought this disease. You may have a connection to breast cancer or you may just
want to help. General donations to the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate may be made at
any time of year and for any reason. We will send you a thank you letter for donations
in excess of $250.
How to Donate
To donate by mail, please download and print our
donation form (also located at the top of this page), and mail to the address indicated
on the form. We hope to have an online donation option
in the near future.
Memorial/Honorarium Donation Program
Our Memorial Program allows donors to celebrate a loved one's life. When
a memorial is received, a personalized tribute card is sent to the person or family
indicated, notifying them of the thoughtful donation, but not revealing the amount.
Each gift is tax-deductible and the donor receives an acknowledgement of his or
her donation.
There are many times when one might be at a loss as to what to give the person who
"has it all". Often we hesitate to send gifts to loved ones out of town, as they
may not be able to return a gift that doesn't fit or isn't the right color.
Anniversaries, birthdays, Mother's or Father's Day, graduations, holidays or other
special occasions are times we enjoy giving gifts, and our Honorarium Program
is the perfect answer to gift-giving. As with the memorial program, we will notify
the person you select of your thoughtful gift without revealing the amount of the
donation. To ensure that the gift acknowledgement is received in a timely manner,
please notify us of your desire to give a gift through this program at least 4 weeks
in advance of the special occasion.
We ask that donations be made by check. Please remember to include the name and
address of the person to whom the tribute card is to be sent.
